The LokSabha is the India Parliament’s lower house, and its participants are elected by the Indian citizens through a general election. Lok Sabha elections are held once in five years, although the time can be changed under certain circumstances. Following are some general information about the process:

• Election Process: Lok Sabha elections are held using a first-past-the-post electoral system. This means that the candidate who receives the most votes in a particular constituency wins the seat.
• Constituencies: India is divided into diffrent constituencies, each of which elects one member to the Lok Sabha. The number of constituencies and seats may change due to periodic delimitation exercises.
• Political Parties: India has a multi-party system, with several political parties vying for seats in the Lok Sabha. The two major national parties are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC), but there are many regional parties also.
• Coalitions: Since no single party often gains an outright majority, parties often form coalitions with other parties to secure enough seats to form the government.
• Campaigning: Election campaigning in India is vibrant and diverse. Parties uses rallies, speeches, media advertisements, social media, and more to reach out to voters.
• Voting: Indian citizens over the age of 18 are eligible to vote in Lok Sabha elections. Voting usually takes place in multiple phases across Indian states and union territories to ensure smooth conduct.
• Counting and Results: After the voting is completed, the votes are counted and results are declared. The candidate who secures the most votes in a constituency is declared the winner.
• Forming the Government: The party (or coalition) with the majority of seats in the Lok Sabha is invited by the President of India to form the government. The leader of the majority party becomes the Prime Minister.
• Opposition: The party (or coalition) with the second-highest number of seats is declared the main opposition party in the Lok Sabha.
