Kuttu dosa recipe

Kuttu(buckwheet) dosa is one such recipe that is perfect for Navratri. Kuttu ka dosa does not make use of any of these forbidden ingredients. It is thus a perfect Navratri vrat recipe.

Method of Preparation


  • Rice 1 cup
  • Channa dhal 1/2 cup
  • Tuvar dhal 1/2 cup
  • Urad dhal 1/2 cup
  • Onion 3 tbsp, chopped fine
  • Ginger 1/2 tsp, chopped fine
  • Curry leaves 4-5
  • Coriander leaves 3 tbsp, chopped fine
  • Asafoetida 2 pinches
  • salt to taste

Preparation Methods:

  1. Soak rice, channa dhal, tuvar dhal and urad dhal in water for 4-6 hours.
  2. Grind soaked rice and dhal to a coarse consistency. Batter is ready when it has reached a "sand grains in water" consistency. Add enough water.
  3. Add onion, ginger, coriander, asafoetida and salt. Mix well.
  4. Make dosai by spreading batter thinly on the pan. Spread oil or ghee on top. Flip over to cook reverse side.

To Serve:

Kutto dosa should be served hot.
