Parks in North India

North Indian vegetation is predominantly more dense and coniferous. The famous trees that we find here are sal, teak, walnut, and sheesham.


Parks in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir has numerous National Parks, Sanctuaries, Game Reserves and Wetlands for the protection of flora and fauna. Red Deer is the most commonly found in this place.

Parks Description
Kishtawar National Park This is located of Kishtawar district. The animal that include musk deer, Kashmir stag, Languor markhar, ibex, Himalayan tahr, black bear, leopard cat, leopard and snow leopard. The birds found are monal pleasant, golden eagle, koklas, golden oriole, and flycatcher.
Hemis High Altitude National Park This is situated at Ladakh in J&K. This national park offers the tourists an abundant treasure of natural beauty with mountains of various shapes and sizes, mixed with many flatlands, deserts and river.
Dachigam National Park This is located 22 kilometers from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The main animal species of this park are Hangul, or the Kashmir Stag. The Leopard Cat, Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan Brown Bear, Jackal, Hill Fox, Himalayan Weasel, Yellow-throated Marten, Jungle Cat, Long-tailed Marmot, Otter, Cinnamon Sparrow, Black Bulbul, Himalayan Monal, Golden Oriole, Minivet, and Pygmy Owlet are found here.

Parks in Himachal Pradesh

The nature has fallen towards the HP, which has many snow clad peaks, alpine vegetation, crystal clear lakes and adventures forests.

Parks Description
Pin Valley National Park This is located in Spiti region. The park is located in the cold desert area and the species found here are Himalayan snowcock, chukar, snow partridge and snow finch flourish in the area.
Great Himalayan National Park The Great Himalayan National Park is the new park, located in Kullu region. It has the species of 31 mammals, 181 birds, 3 reptiles, 9 amphibians, 11 annelids, 17 mollusks and 127 insects. Coming to the plant life here you can find the lofty pines, spruces and the great, spreading horse chestnuts of the lower valleys, dense cushions and prostrate branches of the alpine herbs and junipers.

Parks in Uttaranchal

The most famous place for fauna and flora is Shivalik and it has 355 species of herbs, 70 tree species, and 70 species of shrubs or under shrubs, 19 of climbers and 21 species. Most commonly found here is Crocodiles, Silkworm, Bees(produce more wax and honey).The Uttaranchal has a number of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. A visit to the jungle is always a fascinating experience and there can be no better place to live this fascination than in the National parks of Uttaranchal in India.

Parks Description
Jim Corbett National Park This is place to protect tigers. Corbett is famous for its wild population of Tigers, Leopards and Elephants along with other animals like Deer, Wild Boar, Jungle Cat, Fishing Cat, Sloth Bear, Black Bear, Wild Dog, Jackal, and Crocodile.
Valley of Flowers Valley of flowers was a set up in 1981 in Chamoli district. The nearest airport is at Dehradun which is 330 km from the park. This includes snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan kthar, monal and pheasants.
Rajaji National Park It is situated in Siwaliks of Saharanpur district. It comprises of sambar, cheetah, barking deer, leopard, bear, tiger, elephant, pig, jungle fowl, and peafowl.

Parks in Punjab and Haryana

Hari Ke Pattan This is one of the important lakes, becomes a home to nearly 350 species of migratory birds. It has the fish market and home of varied wild life. Cormorants, Darters, Herons, Egrets, and Open billed Stork, Spoonbill and White Ibis, Little Grebe, Indian Moorhen, Black Winged Stilts, a few migratory ducks and Grey Pelicans are commonly found.
Sultanpur National Park This Park includes Blackbuck, Blue Bull, Nilgai, Hog Deer, Sambar, Wild Dog or Dhole, Caracal, Wild Cat, Hedgehog, Mongoose, Striped Hyena, Indian Porcupine, Rattle/Honey Badger, Leopard, Wild Pig, four horned Antelope, Common hoopoe, Paddyfield pipit, Purple sunbird, Little cormorant, Indian Cormorant, Common Spoonbi.
Kalesar National Park This is located in Chhachhrauli, Yamunanagar. The animals that includes Leopard, Bear, Chital, Sambar, Wild Goat, Deer, Wild boar Baking, Red Jungle, Grey-hooded Warbler, Red-billed Blue Magpie, Crested Serpent Eagle, Bar-tailed Treecreeper, Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch, Grey-capped Pygmy Woodpecker, Blue-bearded Bee-eater etc.

Parks in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state of India. It is the home for mammals like Tiger and rihno's and other important species.

Parks Description
Dudhwa National Park This is also a Tiger Reserve, is located in the district of Lakhimpur-Kheri. This is the habitat of large numbers of barasingha, the swamp deer, noted for their multi-tined antlers. This park also has tiger and leopard.
Hastinapur Sanctuary Hastinapur Sanctuary is the home to the swamp deer, chital, nilgai, wolf, leopard, hyena, gharial, and wild boar.
Kishanpur Sanctuary Kishanpur Sanctuary was founded in the year 1972. This is the home for tiger, swamp deer, leopard.

Parks in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is famous for its rich culture and heritage and have rich flora and fauna, although the area coverage is less when compared to other Indian states.

Parks Description
Ranthambore National park It is in Sawai-Madhopur. The forest is famous for dry grasslands, which include tiger, leopard, wild boar, caracal, sloth bear, ratel, hyena, civet, jungle cat, sambar, chinkara, nilgai, four-horned antelope, python, cobra, crocodile, partridge, green pigeon, red spur fowl, peafowl, parakeet, teal etc.
Sariska National park It is in Alwar covering an area of 274 sq. kms. It has tiger, leopard, panther, wild boar, hyena, jungle cat, civet, four horned antelope, sambar, cheetah, ratel, caracal, chinkara, nilagi, partridges, green pigeon and pea fowl.
Keoldeo National park Located in Bharatpur district, here most of the plants are acquatic. The park is home for birds are famous of the variety of indigenous and migratory birds, both aquatic and non-aquatic. The fauna of the park are Siberian crane cormorant, stork, spoonbill, quail, coot, heron, teal, tern, sambar, cheetah, black buck, wild boar, civet etc.
