NagaPanchami Festival

This festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the lunar day in the month of Sravana. This festival is celebrated for wishing their brothers to be happy. Vysyas celebrate this festival as Raksha bandhan.

Rituals for NagaPanchami

Get up early in the morning, before sunrise, have head bath without soap nut powder (It is believed that soap nut powder goes into snake eyes ) and do Pooja. Go for Snake burrow and do pooja, break coconut and put milk and keep raw rice(akshathe) for pooja and bring that akshathe kept near snake burrow and need to bring snake burrow mud(Hutthada Mannu). Need to bring Hutthada Mannu, Akshathe while returning and who has younger or elder brothers need to keep Hutthada Mannu above his eyes , bottom of ears believing that Hutthada Mannu has some medicinal values so it will keep safe for their siblings and akshathe bought from there is made wet with gandha and keep on their forehead believing that protects them, Put flower garland, Need to give thambula(Coconut, beetle leaves, beetle nuts) and do aarathi(water mixed with vermillion and turmeric) since they celebrate this festival for wishing their brothers to be happy with health, wealth and tie Rakhi.
