In Hinduism, Durga or Maa Durga is form of Devi, the supreme goddess. Maa Devi is depicted as riding on a lion or a tiger having eight arms carrying weapons and a lotus flower, maintaining a meditative smile, and practicing mudras. The name "Durga" in Sanskrit means "invincible".
Kali is considered by Hindus to be an aspect of Durga. She is thus considered the fiercer, demon-fighting form of Shiva's wife, goddess Parvati. Durga manifests fearlessness and patience, and never loses her sense of humor, even during spiritual battles of epic proportion. The worship of Goddess Durga is very popular among Hindus.
