I am interested to buy domestic travel insurance. Does it cover for emergency sickness medical expenses?

Domestic travel policies does not cover for sickness medical expenses, these are policies which cover medical expenses due to accident during your domestic trip. Below are the few companies which offer domestic travel insurance.

Thank you for contacting NRIOL for your TATA AIG travel insurance requirements. TATA AIG travel guard offers $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 and $500,000 US dollar coverage plans. As you people are above 56 years, the plans are fixed benefit plans which means that there will be restricted cover for medical expenses as below:

• Hospital Room and Board and Hospital miscellaneous: Max $1,500 per day up to 30 days whichever is less.
• Intensive Care Unit: Max $3,000 per day up to 7 days whichever is less.
• Surgical Treatment: Max $10,000
• Anesthetist Services: Up to 25% of Surgical Treatment
• Physician's Visit: Max $75 per Day up to 10 visits
• Diagnostic and Pre-Admission Testing: Max $500
• Ambulance Services: Max $400

However these medical restrictions is waived off by paying additional premium. Such plans which do not have above medical restrictions are called plans without sublimit. These plans are expensive than fixed benefit plans.

I understand that I have to buy a new policy as a renewal of existing policy. However before processing with the payment. Please answer the following:

• When I sign for the new policy will the policy details of the previous policy and the current one remain the same?
• Once I purchase the policy for 60 days from April 5, Do You have the old policy details from Dec.21 to April 4th?
• We do not have a claim until now but if any claim arises before the end of the renewal do you guys have the proof that the policy started from Dec.21?
• Is buying the new policy the same as renewal?

• Yes, only the policy number and the travel dates will be new and other details will be same as your previous policy.
• Yes, based on your existing policy you will get an approval to renew the policy.
• Yes, the insurance company will have all your details, and having given approval for the renewal will be aware of your old policy details as well.
• Yes, the new policy will work as an extension of the existing policy. In case of any claim arises in the renewal policy, then your claims will be settled as per agreed terms and conditions of the policy.

• What is the amount for which Repatriation of remains is included?
• If we need to see a general doctor here called as GP then up to what amount the fees are covered for a woman born in Feb 1957 ?
• Sickness Dental Relief: $ 400 ( $150 ) but what's $150 indicating here? it says deductible ?
• What Ear Nose Throat (ENT) services are covered?
• How much ambulance charges are covered and also how many times we can call ambulance considering charges is around $500 in Australia for one-time ambulance calling?
• What is the limit for a pharmacy bill?
• What's the limit for doctor's fee?
• Also, how can I get coverage more than 180 days?
• Also how can be pathology/radiology charges are covered?
