Akki Roti recipe

Akki rotti is a rice-based breakfast item unique to the state of Karnataka. It is an Indian flatbread made with cooked rice and rice flour. Some prefer adding green chillies, chopped onions and dill leaves to the mix but the recipe varies from region to region in Karnataka.

Method of Preparation

Ingredients:

  • Rice flour - 1 Cup
  • Boiled Rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 or 2 cups (little more or less depending on rice flour quality)
  • Salt for taste

Preparation Methods:

  1. Take a mixing bowl - add rice flour, cooked rice and little salt, mix well by drizzling water and prepare a soft dough.
  2. Take a small portion of the dough and roll it to round rice flour balls.
  3. Press the round rice flour balls to the shape of Chapathi and cook it on the Thava.
  4. Finally, serve the akki roti with chutney of your choice.

To Serve:

Serve hot with Chutney / vegetable saagu / chicken curry for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
