Hague is one of the city in Netherlands, and also the third largest city of the Netherlands followed by Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Hague is located in the west of the Netherlands, which is towards the centre of the Haaglanden capital and occupies the southwest curve of the larger Randstad capital. Hague has a population of around 500,000 people.

Most of the foreign delegations are based in Netherlands and 150 international governments are located in the city, such as International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court etc.Belgium and the Netherlands were united in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands to form a defense against France, this incident was held after the Napoleonic wars.

History of Hague

Hofvijver and the Binnenhof these are the two places where the Parliament is located. Although city is influenced by many art universities such as the Royal Conservatory, the Royal Academy of Art, the Hague University and a Vocational University but there is a lack of student performance in the Hague city. The Hague is the major Dutch city on the North Sea and includes two diverse beach resorts namely Scheveningen and Kijkduin. Scheveningen occupies the northwestern part of the city, which is the popular destination for visitors and inhabitants.

Madurodam is a small city, comprising many landmarks and landscape. The Mauritshuis displays many paintings by Dutch experts, such as Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn and Paulus Potter. The Escher Museum is located near Royal Palace on the Lange Voorhout. The Haags Historisch museum has many display cases about the history of the city from the middle ages to the current day.

Places to visit

  • The Peace palace: This palace is one of the most perceptible landmarks in the city. The palace works for many purposes but it is most renowned as the base of international law. It is also called as the place of "World Court".
  • The Kurhaus: It is located to the Scheveningen district, which is quite popular as a seaside summer resort.
  • Mauritshuis: Mauritshuis started in the year 1822. The Royal Picture Gallery at Mauritshuis, which is one of the pre-eminent art galleries in the Netherlands comprises of many famous works.
  • Den Haag stadium: Den Haag Stadium built in the year 2007 is a small yet remarkable multi-purpose stadium and you can find a Den Haag football club.

Transportation

Airports: The Hague shares an Airport with Rotterdam. It can be extended from Central Station by RandstadRail, with an Airport Shuttle to and from Meijersplein Station.
train
Train: There are two main train stations in Hague namely Den Haag Hollands Spoor and Den Haag Central Station, which is only 1.5 km aloof from each other. These two stations were built by two different railway corporations.
waterways
Waterways: Most of the canals in The Hague are from the 17th and 18th century, such as: Prinsessegracht. Herengracht. Koningsgracht. Veenkade. Middelste Gracht. Bierkades. Mauritskade.
