Beijing is the capital city of China. During earlier days the people of Beijing were found in the caves of Dragon Bone Hill near the village Zhoukoudian. Yongding River and Chaobai River are the two main rivers flowing through the municipality. Beijing occupies the northern tip of North China. Beijing is famous for its temples, landscapes, stone walls, architectural buildings, art galleries, reputed universities and many more. It is a center for many different cultural activities. The best place for the agricultural cultivation is the mountains to the north, northwest and west shield.

History of Beijing

During the Chinese civil war in the year 1949, the communist parties forcibly took control over the city in the Pingjin Campaign. Under the leadership of Mao Zedong in the year 1949 he announced in Tiananmen the established of People's Republic in China and later the city renamed to Beijing.
Three main architectural buildings in Beijing are namely: Forbidden City, Imperial Ancestral Temple and Temple of Heaven. People in Beijing speak the Beijing dialect, which belongs to Mandarin diversity, based on the language Putonghua, which is the main spoken language in China and Tiwan. Putonghua is considered as one of the 4th standard languages of Singapore.
According to the Koppen climate classification Beijing has a dry climatic condition. Peking opera is the well-known Chinese theatre. The local style of cooking in Beijing is called as Beijing cuisine.

  • Jinyuan Yansha shopping mall: This mall is also known as "Great Mall of China". It covers an area of 6 million square feet with six floors. The mall has 230 escalators, with more than 1,000 shops.
  • Sanlitun village: TThis is an innovative building. The Village houses the popular fashion brands such as Uniqlo, Steve Madden, Esprit, Mango, the Apple Store and Adidas'flagship store, 30 restaurants and a multi-plex cinema.
  • Xidan Joy city: It is the biggest shopping mall in Xidan. It has the largest digital cinema hall and largest cosmetic shop.

Places to visit

  • Tiananmen square: Located in the center of Beijing City, it is a place where many processions and rallies take place.
  • Temple of heaven: It is located in the southern part of Beijing, and considered to be the holy place for more than five centuries.
  • Summer palace: Located in the northwest of Beijing and the world's largest imperial garden in China. Place for relaxing, walk around the ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and huge lake. It is famous for Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, which is situated around the lake.
  • Great wall: Along the length of the wall there are eight sections namely: Badaling, Juyongguan, Huanghuacheng, Jiankou, Mutianyu, Gubeikou, Jinshanling, and Simatai.

Roads: As a part of National trunk road network the road links of Beijing is connected to all parts of China. City transport in Beijing is dependent on 5 ring roads, which shares the same origin inside the city. The roads appear to be more like rectangular in shape.

Trains: There are 9 rail lines operating from Beijing namely: Shanghai, Guangzhou, Kowloon, Harbin, Baotou, Qinhuangdao, Chengde, Yuanping and Shanxi. Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway opened in the year 2011 and the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway opened in the year 2008 is the two high-speed rail lines in Beijing.

Airport: Beijing International Airport, which is located 21 km far from the city center. It is the world's second busiest airport after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
