Build your NRI Online community!
The NRI Online community since its humble beginning in 1997, has grown a great deal. It now extends across the globe, from Australia to Zambia pretty much everywhere that NRI's reside. Yes, we have taken small but steady steps in helping each other, in sharing our joys and sorrows, hopes and aspirations, simply put-in building a community. We sincerely thank you all for being a part of it.
This community will be a asset to all of us in many ways. The resources of this online community could help in something seemingly trivial as searching for the closest grocery store, finding information about the next Indian cultural event in your town or to quickly inform NRI's about an crisis situation. As a community it could also become a powerful lobby to directly impact India, perhaps by informing and influencing politicians in our respective country of residence to support India, or support bona-fide organisations making a positive impact in India.
Our journey however has only just started and we continue to need support and help from all our readers to strengthen this online voice. You can do so in a variety of ways:
Contribute articles and other written material
You can write about anything you want articles, poems, features and so on. It could be anything from your experiences as a newly arrived NRI, to your favourite journey, or a "let-off-steam" article about bad service. Even if you haven't written before, here's your chance to make a start! If your article is published, you have a immediate audience across the globe.
To contribute material, please contact us.
(Please note that all submissions may be edited)
Happenings
At NRIOL.COM, we aim to publicise all NRI-related events. If you plan to have a event and need to give it some publicity, please contact us.
NRI organisations
Our aim is to serve you in as many ways as possible. A part of this is to be able to put you in touch with an NRI-related organisation that may be of interest to you. On the other hand, if you are part of an NRI organisation and want to make it known to other NRIs, please let us know at www.nriol.com/community/orgs/. If you don't have a website, we will create a web-page for you within NRIOL.COM.
20 Questions
Ever wondered what all those NRIs out there are like? Well, ponder no more! In this feature, we ask you (and other NRIs who wish to take part) 20 questions on a variety of subjects. This gives us a flavour of what everyone's like... as the Boeing ad goes, how similar we all are.. and how so very different!
To take part, please go to www.nriol.com/community/20q/.
Culinary club
Want to contribute your own delicious recipes or concoctions? Join our culinary club! Please go to www.nriol.com/recipes/.
Find someone or be found!
Ever wondered what happened to an old friend or relation that you know is somewhere abroad? Or are you new to a city or country, and want to get some local NRI contacts to help you settle in?
Look no further our NRI People Search facility will help you find NRIs worldwide. And make sure you enter your name in the directory too, just in case someone is looking for you!
Yellow Pages
Our aim is to serve NRIs worldwide. One of the ways we do this is by providing NRIs the world over with a list of companies or organisations that would be useful to them from restaurants, to grocery stores to places of worship and so on. We will be introducing new categories as we go along.
So if you know the names and addresses of these organisations or companies, please enter them into our yellow pages database, so they can help NRIs in your city and country. If you own a business or are a member of any organisation, we encourage you to enter your details on our yellow pages, as you will get exposure to NRIs who may want to make use of your services.
And more...
