B2 Visa which is also known as Tourist Visa for all non-immigrant travelers to USA. This visa is given to travelers to USA for visiting family, friends, relatives, attend ceremonies, for pleasure, medical treatment and tourism.

B2-Visa for Tourism Eligibility Criteria

An applicant who is non-US citizen and who wants to visit USA to visit their family, friends, and relatives, for pleasure, for tourism can apply for B2 visa which can be sponsored by their relatives living in United States.

Step by step guide for B2 visa

  1. Complete Form DS-160
  2. Payment of Visa fees
  3. Schedule for your visa interview
  4. Prepare your B1visa documents
  5. Attend the visa interview

STEP 1:Complete form DS-160

  • Complete Form DS-160 -form fill.
  • The applicant should provide complete information on one’s background and details, as well as your purpose of visit.
  • You will receive a 10-digit confirmation number after successfully completing the application.
  • This confirmation number is necessary for setting up of visa interview appointment.
  • To complete the form the applicant needs a photo in the acceptable format. Photo Requirements..

STEP 2:Payment of Visa fees

  • The application fee for the B2 visa is $160.
  • The applicant can pay the visa fees on US visa Service website while scheduling an appointment either electronically or in cash at the designated bank branches in the home country.
  • The visa application fee is non-refundable and cannot be transfer it to any another individual.
  • You will receive a receipt after paying the application fee and this receipt is valid for one year from the date of payment and you can schedule your interview at the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate within the year.

STEP 3: Schedule for your visa interview

  • All visa applicants between 14 and 79 years old have to attend a visitor visa interview.
  • The interviews are held at the US Embassy by an official where you are applying from.
  • The applicant needs to do a Biometrics i.e. fingerprint & digital photograph at Visa Application Center (VAC) and then US visa an interview at the applicable U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
  • The applicant can schedule the appointments on online using USTravelDocs website.

STEP 4: Prepare your B2 visa documents

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay in the USA.old passports if any.
  • Visa application fee payment receipt.
  • DS-160 Form confirmation page.
  • Applicants email address.
  • US Visa interview appointment letter.
  • A photo that complies with the US Visa photo requirements.

Here are few supporting documents for B2-Visitor Visa (Tourist Visa). Different circumstances require different supporting documents.

  • Detail documents of the home country which will prove for your return to home country such as family, job contract, lease, or property deed.
  • Letter from valid authorities stating that you do not have prior convictions or any criminal record.
  • Bank statements and financial paper work like 3 years Income tax etc. As a proof of financial stability to support your visit to be able to stay in the US.
Please Note: The below list of documents acts a guide to understand of what documents can help you to have successful visa application. Depending on each applicant’s circumstance, some of these documents may not be applicable and there may be few more documents that you may produce as a proof before the consulate officer which may not be mentioned in the list below.

Supporting documents for tourism

  • A complete Travel itinerary.
  • Proof of funds like bank statement, copy of passbook, any other funds available.
  • Business card if applicable.
  • PAN Card, AADHAR Card, copy of last 3year's income tax documents.

Supporting documents for visiting family, attending an event, visiting children.

  • Applicant’s relative's proof of status like Green Card, naturalization certificate, or a valid visa.
  • Letter of invitation from the relatives.
  • Proof of event like the invitation card if applicable.

Supporting documents for medical treatment

  • A medical diagnosis from applicant’s local physician explaining the nature of your ailment and the reason you require treatment in the United States.
  • A letter from treating doctor or hospital expressing the willingness to treat the specified ailment with the proposed medical treatment, estimated duration required for the treatment. And an estimation of the cost involved in the treatment.
  • Proofs for payment where all estimated expenses will be paid and the complete treatment is financially covered completely.

STEP 5:Attend the visa interview

  • The applicant should carry all the documents on the day of the interview, and be prepared to answer questions from the interviewer.
  • The applicant will be asked about his/her background, the purpose of visit, what business he/she will be doing in the US, and whether he/she intends to return.
  • Applicants can track the status of their visa application through.
